ECDL Profile

Print page

We know everyone uses technology for different reasons, which is why we developed ECDL Profile.

With ECDL Profile, you choose the module combinations best suited to you. After passing the tests, those modules then represent your ECDL Profile, which are listed on your ECDL Profile certificate.

With ECDL Profile, you can become certified in the skills you need for your own educational and professional journey. ECDL Profile is flexible, so candidates or companies can build the Profile that suits their needs or interests.

We recommend three ECDL Profiles - Base, Standard, and Advanced - each represents a different level of digital proficiency, and proof of the skill level that you have.

An ECDL Profile is for life. You can build on it over time as you update your skills, as technology evolves or when new modules are developed.

Your ECDL Profile grows with you: it never expires, and will always be proof of your skills and lifelong learning.

Recommended Profiles

We recommend three ECDL Profiles - Base, Standard, and Advanced - each represents a different level of digital proficiency, and proof of the skill level that you have.

ECDL Base Profile

ECDL Base Profile is a certification of an individual's digital literacy. It consists of four separate modules that cover key ICT skills and knowledge areas:

ECDL Base Profile certifies essential skills. These 4 areas come together to form the set of skills and knowledge that are crucial for all, which is why they are considered essential.

ECDL Standard Profile

ECDL Standard Profile consists of all of the Base modules and any 3 out of the 9 Intermediate modules.

ECDL Standard Profile is the most flexible of the recommended ECDL profiles. The structure ensures that you can certify your essential ICT skills, and then demonstrate your competence in other modules that are suited to your career or your interests.

ECDL Advanced Profile

ECDL Expert Profile consists of 3 of the 4 Advanced modules.

ECDL Expert Profile enables you to become (and prove that you are) a ‘power user’ in commonly used computer applications. It is aimed at workers who want to be recognised as experts in these applications by being able to perform advanced functions in them. You achieve your ECDL Expert Profile by successfully completing 3 of the 4 Advanced modules.
