The Computer Society of Zimbabwe (CSZ) ended 2014 on a high as it was awarded the ‘Top ICT Educator of the Year’ runner-up award by the Ministry of ICT, Courier and Postal Services in recognition of the ICDL programme, e-Learner (ECDL Foundation endorsed programme) and its contribution to the education sector in Zimbabwe. Presented at the ICT Achievers Awards ceremony, this annual event recognises the efforts of individuals as well as organisations that have made a difference in ICT development.

The annual CSZ Summer School also took place before the year end, centring on the theme of ‘ICT Governance as a Pillar for Development’. This event is a highlight for CSZ each year and brings together stakeholders from across the ICT industry in Zimbabwe and beyond. A special addition this year was the attendance of Mr Jaedok Shim from the Korea Productivity Centre (the ICDL National Operator in South Korea). Mr Shim gave an enlightening presentation titled, ‘Looking into the Future – Envisioning Future Technologies’, drawing on key successes in the Korean market.

CSZ continues to be a shining light for ICDL in Africa and a strong example of the success of the programme globally, in challenging circumstances. We wish Viola Dondo, Executive Director, and all of the team, the very best for 2015!
