ICDL Asia General Manager, Ms Tina Wu, was invited to sit on the panel of speakers for the Singapore Executive Dialogue Session, co-organised by Singapore National Employer Federation (SNEF) and International Labour Organisation (ILO – ACT/EMP). The Dialogue discussed the changing nature of jobs and work in Singapore, and anticipated changes in the Singaporean business context and key sectoral impacts of technological advancement.

During the Dialogue, the question was asked of what incentives employers have to invest in training and skills development, considering that loyalty and long-term commitment is low among the new generation of employees. Many interesting comments and views were raised, including that training promotes loyalty among employees, that training should be part of company culture, and that companies that don’t invest in training risk an unskilled workforce if people do decide to stay on.
