Safer Internet Day is being marked around the world today, with events and activities to raise awareness of the need to improve safety and security online. This year’s Safer Internet Day has the theme, ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’, and brings together organisations and governments worldwide.

The first Safer Internet Day took place in 2004, and the campaign has run annually since then, organised by Insafe (the European network of awareness centres promoting safe and responsible use of the internet to young people). ECDL Foundation strongly supports Safer Internet Day, and is proud to be registered as an official supporter of the campaign. As part of our commitment to improving online safety and raising the level of digital skills, ECDL Foundation offers the IT Security module, which covers essential competences for using ICT safely and securely.

More information can be found on the website of Safer Internet Day.
