Santa María La Antigua Catholic University (USMA) in Panama completed its accreditation process as an ICDL Accredited Test Centre, becoming the first in the country.

The University received its Accredited Test Centre certificate on March 31, marking the start of its certification programme, part of the institution’s mission to "promote a humanistic culture committed to social development.”

The certification of digital skills constitutes a significant added value for the profile of every student, teacher, administrative or professional in several fields. In this sense, USMA has the latest advances in biometric technology that guarantee the quality of service.

Professor Karen Carles, Director of USMA Virtual, stated that the presence of the ICDL Test Centre in this House of Studies represents significant cost savings and management effectiveness. She announced that a pilot training and certification plan will be launched for the Base modules and they will then extend the programme in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. In a second stage, the programs will be offered through the Department of Continuing Education and Extension.
