New EU Strategy on Education Launched

Print page

A new strategy for school and higher education in the EU has been launched by the European Commission. The strategy contains several goals, including, ensuring that higher education gives graduates the skills they need to succeed in our economy; making higher education systems more inclusive; closing the ‘innovation gap’ between higher education, research and business; and making sure that higher education systems work together well.

Another key element of the strategy is the tracking of graduates to better understand what they do after leaving higher education.

Announcing the strategy, Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, said, “It is no longer sufficient to equip young people with a fixed set of skills – we have to develop their resilience and ability to adapt to change.”

More information about the strategy can be found on the website of the European Commission.
