European Commission Gets New Digital Economy and Society Commissioner

The European Parliament has approved Mariya Gabriel as the new European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society. Currently a Member of the European Parliament from Bulgaria, Ms Gabriel replaced Guenther Oettinger in the Commission role.

The areas covered by Ms Gabriel’s portfolio include promoting online security in Europe and helping business to benefit from the digital economy. More information can be found on the website of the European Commission.
