More than 50 CEOs from the Ugandan insurance industry met at a breakfast meeting in November to discuss digital skills. The event is organised quarterly by the Insurance Institute of Uganda, which recently became an ICDL Accredited Test Centre. A representative of the Insurance Regulatory Authority was also present at the event.

A representative of ICDL Africa talked about digital skills for the 21st century, their relevance, and the importance of standardising and certifying digital skills. ICDL Compass, a tool to measure the digital skills of a workforce, was also presented to participants.

The representative of the Insurance Regulatory Authority noted that, in the immediate term, there was a need to assess skills gaps to enable the industry to establish standards for the skills needed. The Insurance Institute of Uganda also agreed to immediately integrate ICDL in its current training offering at different levels.
