Ireland’s Education Minister, Richard Bruton, has announced that students in the country will soon be able to study computer science for their final exams in secondary school. The addition of computer science to the Leaving Certificate exams will begin in 2020.

The inclusion of computer science in the subjects available to students is aimed to give students a foundation in computing skills, and help them to understand how technology works in society. Initially, students from 40 schools will have the opportunity to study the subject.
