Workshop on 'ICT Skills in the Era of Industry 4.0' Held in India to Reinforce the Need for Digital Skills

A one-day workshop on ‘ICT Skills in the Era of Industry 4.0’ was hosted for students of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS) in India recently. The workshop was organised in collaboration with ICDL India, MRIIRS’s Faculty of Computer Applications, and the institution’s Innovation and Incubation Centre (MRIIC).

The workshop started with addresses by the Deputy Director of the Innovation and Incubation Centrem Umesh Dutta and the Dean of the Faculty of Computer Applications, Dr M.K. Soni.

During the workshop, ICDL India Head of Communication and Advocacy, Saher Mahmood, discussed the new possibilities created by the digital era, in which future jobs will increasingly be digital. The workshop focussed on awareness about the importance of digital skills in the era of Industry 4.0.

The Director of the Academy SIDM, Shailendra Dixit, spoke about digital marketing and how technology in everyone’s life has pushed the frontiers of marketing. The workshop also saw the launch of the ‘ICDL Digital Challenge 2018’, which is an Asia-wide search for top students with ICT Skills. The India-stage of this competition has been launched with first round of testing for hundreds of BCA, B.Tech and MCA students at MRIIRS on the day of the workshop.
