After more than 9 months of preparation and hardwork from our local territory partners who are involved in the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2018, we are glad to announce and celebrate the Grand Final Competition, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand on 5 September 2018.
This year, we had 7,361 students from 300 different schools and institutes who participated in the Digital Challenge competition. Out of this, about 400 students qualified for a place to compete in the national round competition within their own territories. A final 32 students made it to the Grand Final competition in Bangkok to contend for the honour to be crowned as the best ICT student in Asia for 2018. Congratulations to all our top representatives from 10 different territories: Bhutan, China, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
This year, the competition was split into the Secondary/High School category for students aged 13-17 years old and the Tertiary School category for students aged 18-25 years old.
With the expansion to include Secondary/High School students, the competition created more awareness and highlighted the importance that digital skills are not only esssential in the workplace nowadays, but also in students’ daily life.
More than just a competition, the students were also invited for a city tour around Bangkok, including visits to the famous Wat Pho Temple and Kuan Yim Shrine.
The Awards Ceremony was held on the next day in conjunction with ICDL Digital Literacy Day 2018 at the C asean Auditorium, Bangkok. Mr Damien O’Sullivan, CEO of ICDL Foundation, and Ms Tina Wu, General Manager of ICDL Asia, presented the awards to the winners from this year’s participants.
The competition was closely contested. After a long deliberation between the management of ICDL Asia and the appointed Results Verfication Committee, it was decided that there will be more awards issued for this year’s ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2018, to reward the students for their hard work.
The Overall Winner for the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2018 will be awarded an exclusive 1-week Student Exchange Program with ICDL Asia at the selected territory.
The Overall Winner is Salsabila Amalia Rustam from PSB Academy from Singapore!
