Germany: ECDL Endorsed by BIBB

Print page

As a vocational certification, ECDL is ideal for employers looking to improve the digital skills of their employees. BIBB, the German Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training, and a centre of excellence for vocational research, adopted ECDL for staff training.

BIBB was accredited as an ECDL Test Centre by DLGI, the National Operator for the ECDL programme in Germany. They offered the certification to trainees and also to existing employees, valuing ECDL’s international recognition and high standards of quality.

BIBB President Becomes First Successful Candidate

After becoming an ECDL Accredited Test Centre, BIBB’s first successful candidate was the institute’s President, Manfred Kremer. He completed all seven modules, noting that, “Qualified vocational education and training in today’s modern world of work includes the ability to use information and communication technology in a target oriented manner.” Mr Kremer continued, “For this reason, it was self-evident that this standard should be integrated into our training, and that I should also complete the examinations myself.”

BIBB works to progressively develop vocational education and training (VET) in Germany, and to advance new solutions for VET in the country.
