The Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs is a partnership of stakeholders who are committed to addressing the digital skills gap in Europe. It brings together organisations that are working across both the public and private sectors, including education providers and businesses. The Grand Coalition was launched by the European Commission in 2013 and has over 80 members who have pledged concrete actions to close digital skills gaps and raise the level of digital competence across the continent.
With digital skills being essential for almost all jobs, the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs exists to promote the importance of ICT skills, and encourage practical steps to address skills gaps, such as more training opportunities that are aligned to the demands of the workplace. Pledges from members of the Grand Coalition help to achieve this, alongside National Coalitions for Digital Jobs in 13 Member States of the EU.
The Grand Coalition includes members from a range of sectors, including education and training, certification, business, and NGOs. ECDL Foundation is actively involved and supportive of the work of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs. We are a member of the Secretariat of the campaign. Our pledges include:
- Developing the ‘New ECDL’ certification programme
- Developing and piloting ICT certification relevant for small and medium businesses: 'Digital Marketing' and 'ICT Troubleshooting'
- Developing and piloting an ‘ICT for Educators’ certification
